Celebrate People’s Community Market coming to West Oakland

An event celebrating the forthcoming People’s Community Market will be held on Sat., 6/18, from 1-5 pm. The celebration will be at 3129 San Pablo Ave., where the market will be located. People’s Community Market believes that “grocery stores can be run as social enterprises that have explicit health, economic and social impact objectives,” including community building. There will be food, entertainment, speakers, and information tables. Input will be solicited on the groceries and services the community wants the market to offer.

The site for the People’s Community Market is directly downwind from the OBOT, where developers propose to ship coal through Oakland and on to Asia. No Coal in Oakland will be present at the event.
