Trump Resistance Tuesday – No DAPL, No Coal
March 7, 2017 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm
NCIO is taking part in #ResistTrumpTuesday, on March 7, to protest attacks on climate and environmental justice — from the Dakota Access Pipeline to the ongoing push to export coal from Oakland.
WHEN: 11:45 am, Tuesday, March 7
WHERE: 12th St & Broadway
This march through downtown Oakland will visit Wells Fargo, Citibank, and Chase to tell them to divest from the Dakota Access Pipeline AND target the office of developer Phil Tagami to demand that he drop his lawsuit against Oakland for banning coal exports.
Phil Tagami’s lawyers filed a suit in federal court on December 7 to try to overturn Oakland’s hard-won ban on coal. Taking a page out of the Trump Administration’s legal agenda, Tagami claims his Constitutional right to ship coal has been violated by Oakland’s ban. Click here to learn more about the fight back against Tagami’s suit.
Outside Tagami’s office in Oscar Grant Plaza, we will present our demand that Tagami find a better use for the West Gateway property and stop suing the City for protecting the health of people in West Oakland and averting climate disruption.
We’ll end up at City Hall to thank the City Council for its resolution asking the California Employee Retirement System to divest from the pipeline.
At each stop, there will be a boxing match between the Earth and the Corporate Investors to determine the future of the planet, as well as speakers representing indigenous people, labor, and youth. We need you to cheer loudly for a people’s planet and against the profiteers.
Join us in downtown Oakland for the Tuesday March 7 action.
