California Appeals Court: hearing on Anti-SLAPP Statute status on Tagami’s second lawsuit
July 14, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Phil Tagami’s Oakland Bulk and Oversized Terminal OBOT initially sued the City in December 2018 for breach of contract, an action which the city contends is a “strategic lawsuit against public participation” (SLAPP suit). You can read about the stay of this lawsuit issued by Superior Court Judge Jo-Lynne Lee at https://nocoalinoakland.info/court-puts-developers-quest-for-damages-on-hold/.
The hearing begins at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2020; however, it’s worth noting that other matters on the Appeals Court calendar may be heard before OBOT & OGRE vs. Oakland. A second hearing originally scheduled in California Superior Court for 3:00 pm on the same afternoon, addressing the question of consolidating Tagami’s breach of contract case with the suit Oalkand filed against Tagami in May of this year for breach of contract, appears to have been postponed. Information will be posted about that hearing when we have updates on a rescheduled date/time, and ow community members can virtually-attend.
