Sign on to our Open Letter to Jon Brooks
As of mid-April 2024, OBOT v Oakland has been decided by a state court judge; Oakland’s appeal is in the works; hedge fund tycoon Jon Brooks lobbed a new lawsuit at the City last month … and our community remains steadfast in absolute opposition to a coal terminal on our waterfront.
While the legal wrangling grinds on, it’s time to send a loud-and-clear message to Jon Brooks, who tried and failed to buy Oakland’s 2022 mayoral election after his shell company acquired the West Gateway sublease in bankruptcy court.
The message: irrevocable abandonment of plans to ship coal through our City is the only path to development of Oakland’s West Gateway.
