SUMMARY:Migrant Justice is Climate Justice: Join CJ/EJ day in Month of Momentum at ICE Office in SF
DESCRIPTION:Join Climate Justice\, Environmental Justice\, and Environmentalist activists in a noon-hour protest at ICE headquarters on Monday\, August 5.  This is part of a month-long campaign to demonstrate broad opposition to the administration’s brutal treatment of immigrants\, refugees\, and asylum seekers. \nWhat: Climate Justice\, Environmental Justice\, and Environmentalist day of action during the “Month of Momentum: #CloseTheCamps” actions being planned by a broad range of social justice and progressive organizations and individuals. The August 5th protest is being coordinated by members of No Coal in Oakland; we and our allies across the spectrum of Climate Justice\, Environmental Justice\, and Environmentalist organizations are working together to turn out a rousing crowd for the noon hour protest to represent our commitment to migrant justice as an inseparable part of our mission and movement. \nWhen: Monday\, August 5\, noon to 1 p.m. \nWhere: ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) office\, 630 Sansome Street\, San Francisco (map) \nWhy: We are outraged and ashamed about the inhumanity at the border.  We want to show up as environmental activists in solidarity with other progressive\, issue-focused groups in opposition to the brutally corrosive policies and politics of the current administration. \nMany people around the world are fleeing their homes because of war\, gang violence\, poverty—and increasingly\, people are becoming climate refugees\, moving because their homes are becoming unlivable due to climate change (sea level rise\, desertification\, extreme heat\, fires\, etc.). \nDetails: Bring a sign or an idea for a sign linking the climate crisis to the immigrant crisis.  We will chant\, sing\, and walk in front of the ICE headquarters during the lunch hour. \nThis is an opportunity to contribute to strengthen social justice movements across a range of too-often-siloed issues and to contribute to strengthening the broad progressive movement that is necessary to counter rabid nationalism\, racism\, and greed at the rotten heart of forces aiming to destroy Earth for its current and future inhabitants. \nRSVP &/or share on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/676106659497090/ \nOutreach for the Month of Momentum (all events): https://www.facebook.com/events/663063917438708/ \nFull calendar: https://bit.ly/32MTXEs (click to August to see daily signups) \n  \n  \n  \n
