City Council: 2nd Reading and Final Vote on Coal Ban

The Oakland City Council voted unanimously on June 27 for two measures to prohibit storage and handling of coal in Oakland. City of Oakland rules require that the measures approved at that meeting be given a second reading and vote before becoming final.
The second reading of both measures is scheduled for Tuesday, July 19, 2016. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m.
The coal measures are item 7.16 on the council’s agenda for July 19. The re-reading and vote is on the “consent calendar,” which means that the items are likely to come up early in the evening.
